I’ve practiced having a word for the year for the past eight years.
And at the end of each year, I have been pleasantly surprised at how the word has manifested for me.
I don’t hyper-focus on the word because then it becomes as rigid as resolutions. And I don’t set the word and forget about it either.
The key factor to manifesting my outcomes has been tapping into the feeling of the word and carrying that feeling all year round.
Feelings are really powerful. Our brains don’t know the exact definitions of words but they do know feelings. As we envision ourselves living out our word and feeling the experience of it, our brains will work towards making that our reality.
If you haven’t set a word for 2024 yet, imagine how you want to feel at the end of this year. Tap into the sensations, the images and anything else that comes to you. Then find a word that encapsulates those feelings.
My word, spacious, gives me a feeling of expansiveness and airiness. I feel my arms spread out, a lightness around my chest and extremities and a floating feeling. I also feel a joyful emptiness in my home where it is free of clutter and heaviness. As the year rolls on, I know I’ll add to these feelings.
Having a word is one of my favorite practices to shaping my reality. If you’ve been wanting to try something different for 2024, tap into what you want to feel in December and give this a try!
