Stillness is a luxury and action is an expectation.
I wonder if it has always been that way.
The privileged get to be still. They get to practice indulgence rather than productivity.
While others must create, produce, and move in order to keep the cogs in the wheel running and money in pockets.
The generational transition from one to the other is heavier than staying put.
From stillness to action conjures up feelings of failure, shame, and pity.
From action to stillness conjures up feelings of guilt, frivolity, and imposter syndrome,
Perhaps this is one of the reasons official and unofficial social caste systems are followed with little upward movement for a long time. The discomfort in switching is greater than the reward of it.
