Today, in the car on the way to the grocery store, one of the kids knocked into something.

The word “careless” came to mind. And immediately afterwards, I asked myself – are they careless or are they carefree?

It is easy to mistaken one for the other. Especially when you see yourself as the responsible person or, on the flip side, you see other people as stuffy, uptight and boring.

I wonder if, at one point, careless and carefree had the same meaning. After all, “less” and “free” are very similar. However, if you asked me if I wanted a cake “less” one dollar or if I wanted card that is “free,” I would obviously want the free one.

In embracing free and ultimately, freedom, I’ll look to be more carefree.
