In writing class today, someone pointed out the repetitive use of “as if” in the poem we were reading.

Each “as if” took the reader into a new layer of understanding.

I think we can “as if” into eternity but we won’t because at some point, the “as if” will hit a wall.

The wall is an indication that we aren’t ready for the next level.

So we live and breathe and love as if there were no next level and in doing so, we get there.

I write everyday because it allows me to voice what is at the surface. Once that is out of my head, I can dig in another layer deeper. My daily writing practice has been my greatest exploration of self and humanity. Sign up here to receive these thought nuggets in your inbox on the daily.
