I’m exploring making things simple this week. My brain likes to complicate things and will end up finding complex, multi-step patterns between things that are actually very directly related.

Complicated feels like I’m doing work which makes it feel more valuable but really, complicated can be a time and energy suck.

Who wants to be in a complicated relationship? That would not feed our soul.

However…who wants to be in a simple relationship? That sounds a bit boring. But perhaps that’s because we were told that complicated, rom-com with a break-up in the middle and a crescendo to the end kind of relationships is exciting and what all of our romantic relationships should strive to be.

We don’t need to overcomplicate things for the sake of complex solutions. Perhaps simple works better if we can shift our perspective to see it that way.

I write everyday because it allows me to voice what is at the surface. Once that is out of my head, I can dig in another layer deeper. My daily writing practice has been my greatest exploration of self and humanity. Sign up here to receive these thought nuggets in your inbox on the daily.
