Nice to meet you. I am Lisa, and I ___________________.
What goes into that blank eluded me for a long time.
In college, I learned about elevator pitches and how important it was to craft a good one.
Talk about anxiety.
Being stuck in an enclosed, oxygen-limited space and having to somehow convey who I am to a stranger before a bell ‘dings’ and they leave bringing along all possibilities of a bright future…where’s the panic button??
During my year of self-identity, a period of intense self-examination, I realized, “I am Lisa, and I seek to live an inspired life.”
While I love being a mom and it has changed my life in an infinite number of ways, describing who I am with titles and roles is not enough. I have found that who I am is about a feeling I follow and a feeling I want to give to others.
We are not one thing. We are all things and nothing all at the same time. Maybe the best way we can summarize who we are is not in roles or titles but in what we seek and what we seek to serve.
So, it’s nice to meet you. I’d love to know – who are you?
A daily practice challenges the person who creates on “inspiration.” We have to mother everyday, and ultimately, it is the daily grind that gives us perspective, clarity and the “high’s” of motherhood. I am exploring if the same happens when I write everyday on the topics that normally light me up – motherhood, self-development, healing and creating.
