When I was younger, I didn’t understand what was so artistic about photography.
After all, it’s a simple point and shoot, right?
The mechanics of taking pictures appear to be quite simple. But the technique surrounding all of the steps to taking a “good” picture is not. And then layer on the eye of the photographer and their ability to capture an image from their vantage point.
Then photographs become quite a remarkable thing.
I finally understood how special and unique someone’s vantage point was when I saw pictures on my phone that my kids had taken. I was blown away with what they found important enough to capture and how they saw the world at 3 feet above ground.
What a privilege it is to experience any type of art that allows me to see and understand how someone else sees the world.
